Ways to Improve Gaming Performance on Your Android Device

Our phones have become more than communication devices to us. They have also become our entertainment hub and many are now even powerful enough to play more complex games.

However, if your phone is not built specifically to play games on, then you need to tweak some settings to make your phone optimum for those moments when you want to kick back and relax with some game.

Here are a few ways you can do that.

Turn on Game Mode

This feature is found on a few android devices that may not have the memory to play games and perform other functions well. Therefore, Game Mode is a feature that turns off other memory consuming applications to leave more RAM for the game to run on.

This features will often be found on entry-level to midrange devices. If you have a flagship, you could –

Change Screen Refresh Rate

The screen refresh rate is the rate at which the screen shifts through pixels. The higher the refresh rate, the smoother the screen is to scroll through.

In gaming, a high refresh rate means that the game animation will be smoother.

On the devices that have this function (mostly flagships), you will launch the Settings app>Advanced>Refresh Rate and then select the highest refresh rate available.

Free up space

Games take up a lot of space and therefore, the more unnecessary files you have in your phone, the slower the phone gets due to filled up memory. This then means the phone won’t play games as smoothly as it should. In some cases, it might not even launch.

So, to remove junk and free up space, go to Settings>Free Up Space> Select files that you don’t need and tap Free Up.

You can also use cleaning apps.

Game booster apps

Game booster apps are apps that are designed to tweak various options on the phone to ensure the device smoothly plays games. For example, they will monitor the Frames Per Second (FPS) of the game playing (not all games) and ensures you have the best experience for the game.

You can further improve the experience by buying gaming accessories. While they don’t do any improvements on the device, they make playing games on the phone more engaging as it would be on a PlayStation.
