Our remarkable woman today is Aleeda Fazal. Aleeza Fazal, a member of African Women in Tech (AWIT), is a Chief Technology Officer at GreenSpoon Kenya. She is a woman vastly experienced in her field, with years of experience in Management, Technology, and Product Management. She has been part of building some outstanding tech products, like M-Pesa.

Fazal considers her biggest skills as her knowledge and ability to build products that make life easier for others, which has led to her success in each of the places she has been.

Her biggest achievement came when she was part of the M-Pesa creation. Fazal was the first product manager of the M-Pesa creation and contributed to the design and rollout of this successful tech product. At Greenspoon, she is also part of the team making the supermarket among the best online supermarkets in Kenya. She is also very capable of building and maintaining strong working relationships due to her management skills.

Having been in the industry for more than 20 years, Fazal has encountered her fair share of bias, especially early on, but she has banked on her years of experience in recent times. Having been in the industry for so long then, Fazal believes that things are slowly changing, but she says there is still much more room for equality.

She advises women getting into tech: “Embrace your unique qualities as a woman. You do not need to model your characteristics after men. Instead, rely on your strengths and talents as a woman. Don’t be afraid to let your talent shine and keep pushing forward with curiosity!”
