Bucket lists push and motivate us to broaden our horizons. As we are in the festive season, and have much more free time on our hands, perhaps it’s time to consider ticking off some of the bucket list ideas as you add on more to the list. Here are some bucket list ideas for the festive season.

Surprise someone.

We all love to be loved and to feel special. One great of appreciating someone would be surprising them. You could surprise them with a special gift, special trip, special appearance, organizing an event for them, offering to pay something for them. Going out of the usual way of activities or normal things is something beautiful and surprising someone is one of the ways this can be achieved.

Do some charity work.

There is immeasurable joy that comes out of doing charity work. It could involve visiting a children’s home, home for the elderly, children with disabilities, prisoners and/or cleaning up the environment, planting trees and recycling litter. There is change of perspective when we come out of our usual cocoons.

Go on a road trip.

A road trip is a great way to see much more and unwind. Go for one. Either solo or with family or friends. Make sure to have the proper car for the intended terrain. There is a Swahili saying  ‘Kutembea kwingi, kuona mengi’ meaning traveling a lot allows you to see and experience lots of things. Here are some road trip ideas.

Go Skiing.

Snow is magical. Having an opportunity to glide through snow is a thrill. Even for those who do not have snow in their countries, maybe it’s time to step out and experience snow.
Take courses and lessons before attempting to ski alone.

Tell your parents and siblings you love them.

This sounds easy but probably some of us haven’t taken time to appreciate our parents, siblings and guardians. This involves verbalizing the words ‘I love you’. Maybe we think or do actions to suggest it but actually saying and meaning it is important.

I Love you

Go scuba diving or snorkeling.

Africa is blessed to have some of the best, cleanest and white sand beaches. Go experience the coast and what it has to offer. Bask in the sun and go scuba diving and snorkeling if you can. You will thank me later!
